“Massive hike in Petrol prices is a prime example of the failure of the Congress-led UPA”, Narendra Modi’s tweet from 2012 ironically holds true today, except that now the BJP is at the Centre as automobile fuel prices reach record highs across the country.

Petrol and Diesel prices in India have increased for the 8th consecutive day, priced at Rs 89.29/litre and Rs 79.70/litre respectively in the capital. Premium petrol has crossed the Rs 100 mark in several cities of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and is very close to the levels in Maharashtra.

Just 6–7 years ago during the UPA…

A silent dreary night.
My eyes behold the sky,
Washed a dark blue.
The glowing crescent,
Of the moon.
Reflecting in my eyes.
The grey,
Clouding what lies beyond,
A world of its own.
Unheard, unseen,
A realm of the heavenly.
A star appears,
And then one more.
Twinkling as if in glee.
Little speckles of light,
Like windows to paradise.
I stand still,
Taking this beauty in.
Lucid yet surreal,
As I gaze,
Into the endless amounts of space.
Filled with mysteries,
An ever-changing canvas,
For the world to see.
The night sky,
A reminder of what’s unknown.
Of hope.
That to existence,
There’s so much more.

After US-based ‘watchdog’ Freedom House released an annual report downgrading India’s freedom status to ‘Partly Free’ with a score of 67, the Centre has now issued a point-by-point rebuttal to its claims calling the report ‘misleading, incorrect, and misplaced’.

The report had judged India on its understanding of political rights and civil liberties in the country. Reflecting a bias towards minorities and anti-India entities, it repeatedly discussed the alleged discrimination suffered by Muslims in India, pointed towards arrests of activists and journalists, and action taken against some NGOs in the country.

Calling the Central Government “Hindu nationalist”, it said that…

In a major step towards monetization and modernization, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again made it clear that the Government has “no business to be in business” and aims to privatize all Public Sector Units (PSUs) except for the bare minimum in four strategic sectors.

Speaking at a Webinar on privatization at the Department on Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), PM Modi asserted that the Government’s duty is to support enterprises and not own or run them.

“Fiscal support to sick PSUs puts burden on the economy and they should no be run just because of legacy”, he…

Indians, both individuals, and corporates could soon have to liquidate their Cryptocurrency assets or face heavy penalties if the proposed Crypto Bill, 2021 is cleared by the Parliament.

Expected to be introduced in the ongoing legislative session, the Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill aims to put a complete ban on all private cryptocurrencies, while also creating a framework for an official digital currency issued by the Reserve Bank of India. It does, however, provide certain exceptions in order to promote the underlying technology driving digital currency.

2021 started on a highly positive note for India, as after months of toiling by scientists and conduction of trials by the Government, the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) finally granted Emergency Approval to two COVID-19 Vaccines — Serum Institute’s Covishied and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.

While Covishield is developed jointly by AstraZeneca and Oxford University and would be manufactured by Serum Institute in the country, Covaxin is an indigenous COVID-19 vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

In lines with Aatmanirbhar Bharat, India was among the first few countries to set…

The Imrana Rape Case of 2005: A 28-year-old woman, a mother of five children was raped by her father-in-law in 2005. Soon after, a local Muslim panchayat asked her to treat her husband as her son and declared their marriage null and void. This judgment was given on the basis of Islamic rulings that did not distinguish between rape and adultery.

The incident mentioned above is just one amongst the many others that cannot possibly be justified by any law of the land and yet prevail in the Indian society since citizens as of now are governed by a set…

Ever since Quarantine began in March this year, our lives have pretty much changed. For me, the initial few months were filled with an upside-down schedule, a demotivated soul, and an uncertain mind. As I tried to bounce back, one of the most important things that I realized was caring for myself and learning to appreciate every little thing that I had taken for granted.

Everyone has a different definition of self-care, so this is in no way an imposition and it doesn’t have to be all that you would define as self-care. But personally, incorporating the below-mentioned activities into…

Here on the deck, I puff on my cigarette, looking at the magnificent mountains, listening to the soothing sounds of rushing waters. The sky is fiery as the sun sets into the icy peaks, reflecting its tangerine hues on me. It’s impossible to feel this serene and not dream.

But I can’t help but miss something. Soaking in the beauty that surrounds me, I once again go back to the moment it had all felt even more beautiful. All the same, just a little more beautiful.

Except that this was dusk, and that was dawn.

I’ll tell you all about…
